IRVINGTON HIGH SCHOOL PROM EXPO 2012 | FREMONT, CA

Simply Dashy Photography participated in a fundraiser called "Prom Expo 2012" for the senior class of Irvington High School in Fremont, CA. The funds raised will be used for a fun and positive environment for their "Grad Night". The event consisted of choreographed dances by fashion icon Eddie Cotillon and tradeshow booths of many local Bay Area vendors and small businesses. To name a few... Weddings and Dreams (wedding gowns and tuxedos), Nina Barbosa Makeup Artistry (hair & makeup artist), Dreams Fulfilled Inc. (event planning services), iDesign Events (event designs and rentals), Quinceanera Magazine, Donna Medina (Mary Kay Consultant), Art by Nikkolette (Screen printing & handmade accessories) and Sew Handy (maker of "Hotsacks").
It was a Saturday afternoon well-spent meeting new people and it was great to contribute to the community. =)

Special thanks go out to Jennifer from Paper Pichay for creating my awesome water bottle labels...and to the rest of the SDP crew who helped out on that day---Ryan, Christian, Virgil and Justin. Happy 2012 everyone! Simply Dashy Photography is now back from holiday break.
We hope that you had a blast spending quality time with your loved ones this holiday season because we sure did. We were able to catch up and hang out with family and friends. Watched movies, ate a lot of cookies and sweets, played board games and Xbox with our kids, and we ate and ate and ate a lot of holiday food. =) Now we've returned refreshed and rejuvenated for the new year. Lots of new goals to meet while enjoying the journey of life along the way. SDP has been truly blessed in 2011. We had the opportunity to work with awesome clients turned friends. Beautiful and sunny San Diego, CA...second home for Cameron and I.
We visit San Diego at least once or twice a year. We love San Diego beaches and its warm weather year round.
We were so excited when Joanne and Visa had commissioned us to photograph their wedding.
I attended the University of Washington with Joanne --- Go Huskies!!!
And I went to Franklin High School with Visa --- Go Quakers!!!
The funny thing was, I never knew they were a couple until I received a wedding inquiry from Joanne.
I just absolutely think it's awesome when two people I know get together and fall in love.
Lots of jokes and laughter were exchanged during Joanne & Visa's
Mission Beach/Belmont Park Engagement Session.

Happy 11th Wedding Anniversary to me and Cameron! =)
This morning our kids greeted us with warm hugs and presented us with their handmade pop-up card.
Both Cameron and I were so touched by their sweet gesture. We think that this is the best card ever made!
It's so cute that they also shared a couple of chocolate bars from their Halloween candy stash. =)
We are so proud and so blessed to have such awesome kiddos!

Today, Simply Dashy Photography shares with you a unique love story.
Both Melissa and Taylor are currently living out of the country for their military duties.
Being that they live overseas, family and friends teamed up to help put together the most unforgettable
milestone on their Wedding Day! I cannot express how much love and support surrounded these two.
I personally felt emotional while taking photographs during their wedding ceremony…
trying my best to hold back tears of joy was an understatement.
I am so happy that Melissa and Taylor have tied the knot, however a part of me.....
sad, as they temporarily live apart in order to fulfill a service for our country. I really admire both of them;
their love remains very strong despite the many months and the many miles apart.
I know these two share something so true...something so real.

Thank you Melissa and Taylor for letting Cameron and I become
a special part of your memorable occasion.
Our prayers are always with you both.
We are so proud and looking forward to the day
when you both can finally be settled in together.

wow...time absolutely flew by so quickly! 15 years too fast!

cameron asked me to be his girlfriend on a full moon during
day light savings time weekend 15 years ago today.
OK, he did not exactly ask-ask, but the kiss he gave me sealed the deal. =)
check us out back in 1996 (yikes!), i'm rockin' out the short hair with bangs
while cam's do is about the same as now. LOL =)
anyway, i am glad that fate brought us together on that day.
and 4 years later, cam asked me to be his wife.

cam, my honey, through the years, i am so very thankful that
you are my love and my best friend.
my life has been a great and wonderful adventure with you in it.
happy 15 years to us!!! =)

Happy Happy New Year Everyone! Wishing all of you a very blessed and abundant 2011.I know that it's been a while, so what a better way to start a new blog post and welcome you all in 2011 but with this very special love story told in Angelica's own words....

"In the beginning of this year Dustin and I were introduced by his sister Jodie. Jodie and I had graduated college together. Dustin and I had one major thing in common, we both passionately loved God. God was apart of both of our lives and was our source of joy, peace, and purpose. In May we decided to move forward and pursue a relationship. The month of May would be a life changing month for the rest of our lives. The evening of May 18th on my way home I was in a terrible car accident. I was on the phone with Dustin talking about our day when all of sudden I had driven into a pole. Dustin still remaining on the phone could hear everything. He never hung up. Being 4 hours away he hopped in the car and drove to be at my side. The accident had caused my foot to almost be severed off. Thank God for the surgeon at John Muir walnut creek who was able to save my foot. After a four and half hour surgery I awoke in the recovery room with Dustin sitting by my side. This day caused us to recognize that we didn't want to lose each other. We now are excited to pursue God together and forever. We are excited to see what God has in store for us. Dustin and I give all Glory to Christ!"

When this couple said they wanted to incorporate the "hearts" at Union Square for their engagement portraits...I suddenly had a big smile on my face!Because I LOVE hearts! And I'm sure I've mentioned this before. =)I am so happy at how this e-session turned out...everything was just so easy and natural.Everything flowed so well that Lori and Ian didn't even realize that we were photographing them as they were exchanging stories and giggles with each other.I remember Lori asking, "so what do you want us to do?" Just a little background...our son, Koen, was born with a heart condition called Pulmonary Valve Stenosis. He had two heart procedures done when he was an infant: the first one at only 5 days old and the second procedure when he was 3 months old. We are all very grateful that both heart procedures were a success. Although Koen's heart condition is not exactly 100% normal like ours, he remains to be a very healthy boy who could be as active and play any sports any person with a normal heart can do. Thanks to all the talented and skillful doctors at UCSF and Kaiser Permanente!

This was Koen back in 2002 at the ICU in Kaiser Permanente in Hayward, CA.

It was a pleasure meeting Jonny and Jen for the first time today.One of the funniest and enjoyable sessions we've had!Arrived in San Francisco in the early morning very happy to find it was overcast.Though the weather was a bit chilly, the lighting was perfect!Thanks to Jen Pichay from Paper Pichay for coming out and rockin' this shoot with us!Jonny and Jen: thanks for letting us be part of your memories.Congratulations on your engagement. LITTLE MISS PHOTOGRAPHER

Like mother, like daughter!Here's my "mini me" taking after mommy [okay, and daddy too, but mostly me! HAHA].I'm so proud of my 8-year old having an interest in photography already.We got her a kid-friendly point-n-shoot digital camera last year as a birthday gift.......but she obviously prefers the DSLR more!

doing a pre-shoot for Mericien and her friends while they were filming their video.

Ring + buzz!!! There goes the alarm on my cell phone at 3:30 [very early] Saturday morning.Get up now or hit the snooze button? I may have hit the snooze button a couple of times.But it was time to roll out of bed and get ready for a fashion shoot....call time was 4:30 am.Why this early? Well, this session was all about catching the gorgeous sunrise.This fun project was a collaboration with two very talented people---fashion model, Bhella Bell and fashion photographer and makeup artist, maJOY from JaededGeisha and Romantic Perceptions.Thank you ladies for being so awesome! You are both great to work with. =)
